Gate Valve

A gate valve is a linear-motion valve that controls fluid flow by lifting a wedge-shaped or parallel "gate" out of the flow path, either fully opening or closing the pipeline. When fully open, it provides an unobstructed, low-pressure-loss passageway for the fluid, and when closed, the gate forms a tight seal to stop flow. Gate valves are primarily used for on/off isolation and are not designed for throttling or regulating flow, as this can cause noise, vibration, and wear on the gate and seat.
